(For those of you who have already donated generously to this need, all funds received as of July 30 are now in Thailand. Please let us know if you would like Pastor Phamor to hold those funds for the 700 kids in case they show up or use them to help feed the teachers and kids in the many bamboo schools that are desperately in need, as mentioned in his letter below).
Jesus for Asia is committed to raising awareness of the opportunities for investment in heavenly treasure in the kids and teachers on the Thai/Burma border. For photos and more info, please visit the sites below:

Updated news on the 700 orphans
Last month Pastor Shem called me and told me that there were about 700 orphans from the area that was hit by the cyclone in the delta of Myanmar, who were on their way to the Thai border to cross over into Thailand. He asked me how many of them we could keep in our dormitories. I could not give him an immediate answer, but after talking it over with our teachers and lay-pastors, even though we have no funds to feed them and to accommodate them, we decided we would keep them all.
I called Pastor Shem back and told him that we would keep all the children who could come across into Thailand. I asked him to go and wait at the border for the children. After a week of waiting, the kids never showed up. Two weeks, then three weeks went by, and they still did not come. I sent him into No Man's Land to see what was going on. They told us that the Burmese army heard that people were bringing children to the border and so they stopped and sent back anyone who was going towards the Thai/Burma border with more than 2-3 children accompanying them.
So far, no children can cross the border onto the Thai side. Since the boarding schools are crowded with children, we are preparing to build one more dormitory so that we can accommodate more children when they can make it into Thailand. Please pray that these orphan children will not fall into the hands of wicked people, but that the Lord will protect them and direct them to our schools so that we can teach them about the love of Christ and help prepare them for eternity.
School Report
Some of you already know that we have eight schools in refugee camps and 18 schools in no-man's land which are providing education for displaced Karen people. Many of these people are refugees in their own land.
We have about 4,287 students and 174 teachers.
We have over 80 boarding school children in Lay Klo Yaw school and over 42 boarding children in Karen Adventist Frontier Academy. We cannot collect any fees from these children because the parents are very poor and do not even have enough food for themselves. Most years, the crops are destroyed by the enemy or the weather. During the rainy season, many of them survive on bamboo shoots and wild yams alone. They have no rice or fruit or any other vegetables.
To sponsor one child in No Man's Land for one year costs about $180, which is $15 a month and only $0.50 a day.
To sponsor a teacher for one month it costs $61 which is only $732 a year.
We have paid our 174 teachers with donations from Faith Camp last year. Right now, our donations have dried up, but we will continue until the end of the year in faith, believing that the Lord will provide! When the teachers ask me how long we will be able to continue to support them, I tell them "When the Lord stops sending funds, I will stop supporting you." For me, when the Lord stops sending funds, it means the education part of my work is finished. Even though our funds are dried up right now, I believe that the Lord will provide because He has never failed His workers, not even once in 42 years of serving Him. We will update you on the funds and the school news in the next newsletter.
One more goal we have is to train our teachers how to provide solid Christian education to so many students. We need someone who can train according to the blue-prints shown in the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy. If any of you know someone who has that skill and feels called to serve the Lord, encourage them to come and help us. We are also making videos about our schools, children, and the work in No Man's Land, so that as you read the information in these newsletters, you may also see with your own eyes the extent of what is going on in these places.
